Love for sale?

The management of emotion or "Love management"

Is love something that is already there by nature or something that can be achieved or managed?

Dr. Stephen Covey is the author of the famous book

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

In this book he tells this story (source: review):

Love by Covey
A man comes up to Covey after a seminar and says that he no longer has feelings of love for his wife.
Covey responds with the instruction:
"Love her."
"I told you, the feeling just isn't there anymore!"
"Love her."
"You don't understand. The feeling of love just isn't there."

"Then love her. If the feeling isn't there, that's a good reason to love her."

Covey goes on to explain that love is a verb and that the feeling is a fruit of the verb. If you act with love, the feeling will follow, appears to be his view.

How can we deal with this way Love is defined?

Love is infinite, therefore Love has many appearances. On many I'll come back on this weblog !

This one, by Covey, makes clear that :

Giving Love ⇒ Creating Love

Something we already knew:

Bible: Luke 6:27-38But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,..
Bible: John 13:34A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Quran Surah 60:7It may be that Allah will grant love (and friendship) between you and those whom ye (now) hold as enemies. For Allah has power (over all things); And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Rig Veda 10.191.4. VE, P. 253 United your resolve, united your hearts, may your spirits be at one, that you may long together dwell in unity and concord!

In fact this approach "to love your enemy" is the key to success in your life !

Salesmanager test

Whenever I have to address a (new) group of salesmanagers, the first (plain) question I ask is:

When someone asks you to help him.......
where he profits from,
but you don't...

Will you help him?

Now, first of all, there is no wrong or right answer to this question.

In practice you'll notice four kinds of basic reactions:

  1. Instantly: Yes
  2. After thinking 3-10 seconds: Yes, because I'll get something back for it later
  3. After thinking: Only if I get something back
  4. No

In general the most successful salesmanagers give answer number 1: Yes.

So follow Jesus, Ghandi Buddha and M.L. King in "loving your enemies" and make this your attitude:

Giving love is creating love !

Search God's Paradise in the Universe

Since 1984 now the Seti institute is searching for life in space. In spite of hope, we haven't found a single proof for life outside of this planet yet.

On the other hand or admiration for the different forms of life on this "old" earth is still growing.

perhaps it's hard to admit and even harder to understand, but

Is the earth really paradise in the universe?

With foolhardiness we keep searching the universe for evidence of life.

The only thing we discover is 'more space".

How things developed

By discovering millions of stars every year, the idea got a hold on us that if there are so may stars out there, there'll have to be even more planets. And if there are so may planets at least on some of them there must be some kind of life.

As always if there's problem, mathematics was brought in to prove this way of thinking:

In the sixties the formula of Drake, or Drake equation, was presented

The Drake equation
N = R* • fp • ne •fl • fi • fc • L

with

NThe number of possible communicative civilizations in our galaxy (The Milky Way) ± 10.000± 0.8
R*Rate of star formation: Number of stars that are created in our galaxy each year± 5± 2
fpTh fraction of stars that have planets± 20%± 10%
neThe number of planets, per star, with an environment suitable for life± 1± 1
flThe fraction of suitable planets on which life actually appears± 100%± 10%
fiThe fraction of life bearing planets on which intelligent life emerges.± 100%± 20%
fcThe fraction of civilizations that develop a technology that releases detectable signs of their existence into space± 100%± 20%
LThe length of time (years) such civilizations release detectable signals into space± 10.000± 1000

As you may notice, assuming different values makes a great difference in estimating the number of intelligent civilizations !

Use the Kosmoi Drake calculator or the Life beyond Earth calculator to define your own estimate of intelligent civilizations in our galaxy.

The Fermi Paradox

The Fermi paradox is a paradox proposed by physicist Enrico Fermi that questions the possibilities of finding intelligent extraterrestrial life.

Fermi states

"The commonly held belief that the universe has many technologically advanced civilizations combined with our observations that suggest otherwise, is paradoxical, suggesting that either our understanding or our observations are flawed or incomplete."

Occam's Razor additionally states that:

"The explanation for a given phenomenon that has the fewest assumptions should be preferred over more complicated ones. The simplest explanation, say adherents to the premise behind the Fermi paradox, is that as a technologically advanced species, in our part of the Cosmos
We are alone"

Conclusion:

Let's enjoy that we live in true paradise in this universe. It's not outthere !

So why waste this dream and short lifetime we've been given by making war.

Enjoy life, enjoy paradise.

New definition of time?

A new definition of Time has been given by John T. Nordberg at his website Grandunification.

Let's try to look at time true God's eye:

You're looking at the real existing galaxy 'Helix Nebula' at 650 light-years away. As seen by the Hubble (Nasa)

What he states comes close to what stumbling scientists are looking for, for decades:

Time is a specific, constant quantity of motion that we use to measure all other
motions, and should be defined to be what is now called the speed of light.

In other words:

Time ≡ c

At first this seems somewhat strange, doesn't it? Shouldn't time be expressed in something like seconds or hours?

But time and space are connected in our universe. The only absolute connection between space and time is the speed of light ( c ), that is constant ( 299 792 458 m/s )in vacuum.

So we may define 1 second in time as the equivalent of 299 792 458 meters in space.

Of course, as we know that the speed of light differs for each medium

Medium
Speed of light in medium
Vacuum 299 792 458 m/s
Air is 299 702 547 m/s
Ice 228 849 204 m/s
Water 225 407 863 m/s
Glass 199 861 638 m/s

But the absolute speed of light in vacuum is the greatest speed achievable in our universe and therefore absolute.

John T. Nordberg claims more new interesting views on his webpage that sure deserve some more attention by professional scientists.

We conclude with his vision that Gravity (G) can be defined as the (outer vector)product of the Electric field (E) and the Magnetic field (B)

E x B = G

A more scientific approach is written by Richard Kaplan at:

In search of a natural time equation
